Custom Designed PTO SHAFT
What Is a PTO Shaft?
In a tractor, the PTO (Power Take Off) driveshaft is one of the most important parts of the machine. The tractor PTO transmits power from the engine to implements towed behind the machine.
The PTO drive shaft is a complete assembly consisting of five main components:
tractor yoke
safety cover
Implement the yoke
Shafting
universal joint
How Do PTO Shafts Work?
Many agricultural equipment lack independent power, which is where tractor power take-offs come in.
Each end of the PTO shaft is attached to the tractor and machine. The tractor PTO shaft is operated with a simple switch and can rotate between 540 and 1,000 RPM, depending on the equipment. When engaged, the shaft draws power and torque from the tractor transmission to give your implement just the right amount of power to get you to work.
PTO shafts come in different sizes, you need to find the one that matches the coupling on your traction equipment. Attaching the tool to the tractor should be easy. If you have to lift the device off the ground to attach the shaft or the shaft is too long, forcing the connection could damage both. If you have an existing PTO shaft handy, it’s easy to confirm your length. Close it and measure from PTO yoke to yoke.
Reliable Tractor PTO Shaft Assemblies and Replacement Parts
We have the parts and components you need to keep your PTO drivetrain in good shape. We also offer new assemblies in a variety of sizes to suit your application needs. Our extensive inventory includes:
Tractor PTO: If you are looking for a complete package, we have you covered. We offer North American-designed and Italian designed PTO drive shafts in a variety of lengths and spline configurations to suit your requirements.
CV PTO Assembly: CV (Constant Velocity) PTO shafts are available for most tractors and implements. These products balance the power input and axle output of the tractor to provide greater stability when engaged.
Cross and Bearing Kit: The Cross and Bearing Kit is the universal joint that forms the heart of the PTO driveshaft system. This part is the power distribution point from the PTO components to the connected equipment.
Other Parts: If your PTO shaft parts start to show signs of wear, save money on new parts by replacing individual parts. We have a huge range of new guards and guard bearings, inner and outer tubes, yokes, pins and universal clutches.
Durable PTO Shaft
This T4 tiller PTO shaft is made of high-quality 20CrMnTi carburized steel and Q345 tube steel, with a black-painted surface. It is durable enough to withstand large impacts, higher torque, and high speed.
Perfect Match
With 39″-55″ extendable length and featuring 1-3/8″ 6-spline tractor end and round implement end, the PTO link shaft perfectly fits powered farm equipment or machinery of the same size.
Powerful Transmission Force
Our PTO shaft stands out with superior power-transfer ability. At 540 rpm it can provide 35 hp, 26 kw, and 460 nm torque; 53hp, 39kw, and 360 nm at 1000 rpm.
Structure Analysis
The PTO shaft is assembled in a compact structure, consisting of a telescoping tube, a universal joint, yokes, a plastic shield, and a chain for protection. It allows two speeds on both ends and transfers the power into the equipment.
Simple & Quick Installation
The PTO shaft for the bush hug attaches to implement ends and tractors quickly. If you want to cut it to the proper length, please read the manual carefully and remember to deburr the edges after cutting.
Wide Application
The PTO shaft, proving robust power force to the PTO powered attachment, is most commonly used on mowers, wood chippers, rotary tillers, rotary cutters, brush cutters, hush hug, tractors, etc.
“PTO Safety”
- PTO guards should always be in place. Most accidents occur when clothing, shoelaces, or even limbs are caught by rotating and unattended PTO shafts. The PTO should always be detached when not running. Many older tractors may no longer have PTO guards. They may have become damaged and removed over time. Replacing or repairing the PTO guard is recommended to reduce the risk of injury.
- Protects all components of the PTO system
- Test them periodically by spinning or rotating the drivetrain guards to make sure they are not stuck on the shaft.
- Disconnect the PTO and turn off the tractor before disassembling for cleaning, servicing, servicing or adjusting the machine.
- Always walk around the tractor and machine, not over the axis of rotation.
- Always use the drivetrain recommended for your machine. Never switch drivetrains between machines.
- Position the tractor’s drawbar properly for each machine used to help prevent driveline stress and separation on uneven terrain and during tight turns.
- Reduce PTO shaft abuse by observing the following: avoid tight turns that pinch rotating shafts between the tractor and machine; keep excessive telescoping to a minimum; engage power to the shaft gradually; and avoid over tightening of slip clutches on PTO-driven machines.
- Be sure PTO driveline is securely locked onto the tractor PTO stub shaft.
- Keep universal joints in phase. (If unfamiliar with this term, check the operator manual or talk with a farm implement dealer.)
- Stop the tractor engine and disengage the PTO to work on the machine or unclog it.
- Keep guards in place.
- Wear close fitting clothing to prevent entanglement of loose clothing parts.
- Secure long hair under a hat when working around the PTO.
- Instruct all operators about the hazards of the PTO.
- Keep children away from all turning parts of the machine not just the PTO.
